Messenger - Prophet :-

In the Quran (the holy book of Muslims), 'Ismail (Arabic) is known as the first-born son of Abraham- Ibrahim (peace be upon him) from Hagar. Abraham's eagerness to sacrifice his son for God is celebrated in Eid ul-Adha every year by Muslims. Islamic tradition holds that Ishmael (peace be upon him) helped his father build the Kaaba in Mecca (or "Makkah"). Ishmael is supposedly buried near the Kaaba on the grounds of the Masjid al Haram. Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a direct descendant of Ishmael.

The Prophet Ishmael - Ismail (peace be upon him) "was a Messenger and a Prophet" he was the son of Abraham-Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and Hagar, a wife of prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). When Abraham was young he received a "dream" from God in which he was "slaughtering" Ismail (peace be upon him) Although this was very difficult for Abraham to do, he proceeded anyway into the desert to sacrifice Ismail (peace be upon him). When Ishmael grew older God called on Abraham and his son to go to Mecca and rebuild the mosque (Ka'ba) there. Earlier built by Adam, was displaced during the flood . Upon its completion, Ishmael "settled. . . in [the] infertile valley near Thy blessed House" of Mecca with his mother; there he married. Ishmael's (peace be upon him) offspring became known as the Quraysh, the direct ancestors of Muhammad (peace be upon him).
