Messenger - Prophet :-

^ Abraham - Ibrahim | peace be upon him |

One of the most central figures to Islam and Judaism , and also revered to some extent among Christians .

Abraham - Ibrahim ( peace be upon him ) is believed to have lived around 2000 BCE, and passed away at the age of 175 years according to the Bible (Old Testament). Abraham - Ibrahim ( peace be upon him ) is of great significance to Judaism because he is the forefather of the Jews, through the line of his son, Isaac.

Abraham - Ibrahim ( peace be upon him ) is important to the Muslims because he is a prophet of the same message from God as Muhammad ( peace be upon him ) , as well as erecting the Ka'ba, the most holy place in Islam.

For the Christians, the importance of the Jewish family tree is less important than in Judaism, even if there are 2 ineffective attempts to construct relationship between Jesus and Abraham in the gospels.

Abraham - called Ibrahim ( peace be upon him ) in Islam - is very important to Islam, both in his own right and as the father of Ishmael - Ismail ( peace be upon him ) his firstborn son. Abraham - Ibrahim ( peace be upon him ) is considered one of the first and most important prophets of Islam, and is commonly termed Khalil Ullah, Friend of God. While most Muslims believe that Adam, the first man, was the first Muslim (submitter to God), they universally agree that Abraham was a prophet of God (Allah Almighty is simply Arabic for God).

According to the Quran, Abraham - Ibrahim ( peace be upon him ) reached the gist that anything subject to disappearance could not be worthy of worship, and thus became a monotheist (Quran 6:76-83.) Ibrahim's ( peace be upon him ) father (named Azar in Islam) was an idol-maker, and he broke his idols, calling on his community to worship God instead. They then cast him into a fire, which miraculously failed to burn him (Quran 37:83-98.)

The sacrifice is regarded as a trial that Ibrahim ( peace be upon him ) had to face from God. It is celebrated by Muslims on the day of Eid ul-Adha. Muslims also believe that Ibrahim ( peace be upon him ) , along with his son Ishmael ( peace be upon him ) , rebuilt the Kaaba in Mecca (Quran 2.125.)
